Myofunctional Therapy

The purpose of myofunctional therapy is to exercise and retrain the muscles of the face and mouth to obtain a normal resting posture of the tongue, lips, and jaw. The approach to therapy emphasizes training in the correct resting postures of the tongue and lips all with the goal of facilitating proper nasal/diaphragm breathing.

Myofunctional therapy can aide in correcting and/or improving a wide number of health conditions, including obstructive sleep apnea, TMJ, bruxism, deviated swallow, abnormal bite, tongue thrust, and many other disorders that affect the way the muscles of the face and mouth function.

Early developmental Treatment for children

Why treating early is key

It is no longer recommended for us to wait until all permanent teeth are in to address crooked teeth. Did you know that crooked teeth can be prevented. Crooked teeth are a symptom of a larger issue. Children should not be sleeping restlessly, bedwetting, grinding their teeth, snoring, waking during the night, having nightmares, focus issues, dark shadows under eyes and trouble breathing through their nose.
If your child has any of these symptoms, please contact me on where your child can be evaluated. Treating early and making the environment for teeth to come in straight is crucial to over all health.
